And We're Off!

Hello Readers!
Tonight I will be on embarking on my journey to Paris...the city of love! As promised, I give full credit for the title of this blog to Julia - wonderful cousin that she is - and assure her that I am working hard to come up with an equally good title for her Spain blog! Lots of packing, a Skype account, eating, countless goodbyes and bon voyages, and a thrown out back, and I guess you could say I'm ready to go! Needles to say, the packing was difficult. How can we be expected to fit our lives in only 2 suitcases and a small carry on? I mean really!

Clothes/accessories? Check.
1 towel? Check. (Apparently an unnecessary item but using someone else's towel makes me a little unnerved).
Shoes? Too many. Check.
Toiletries? Check.
Deodorant? Surprisingly (or maybe not) I was advised to bring enough for the entire semester...CHECK.
Tickets and passport? Check.
Laptop/phone/ipod/etc? Check.
Camera? Definitely Check.
Snuffles? Check Check Check. and Double check again.
Gerard the Jason Giraffe?  Wouldn't leave without him! Check Check Check.
Medicine? Medicine......

Ordinarily I'd just bring the usual necessities, but being me, as you all know, I had to do something exciting before leaving. In retrospect though, I am not sure throwing my back out was my best option. So, medicine deserves its own category. At least pulling up to the NYUParis site with my doctor's note of disability, help with my bags, anesthetic patches, and muscle relaxer (which results in loopiness) will be a good ice breaker! I hope I can make up for this outright bad first impression. Anyways...
Medicine? Check.

Everything else? I'll get it there! I am living like the Parisians, after all (minus the deodorant part).

When I land in Paris, I will go straight to a hotel/hostle-like place for 5 days for orientation. Its the only time for everyone on the program to be together before moving into our respective apartments.  Only after these few days will I know my living arrangements for the semester.

Every so often, I will write updates here to let you know what I've been up to - if you "follow me," you can comment and get email notices every time I update. Keep checking back and commenting so I know everyones around and well! Just because you're out of sight doesn't mean you're out of mind! I'm thinking of everyone and can't wait to share my exciting experiences with you.

Hugs and kisses to home in New York and everyone elsewhere!
Bon Voyage à moi and talk to you from Paris!
